My Routine

I wash my hair every week to clean my scalp and the strands of my hair. Using a lot of hair products can cause build-up on both the hair and the scalp, and it's necessary to clear this build-up so that the hair can absorb moisture properly.

The first thing I do is detangle my hair. Detangling removes major tangles and shed hair that can become matted when they meet the shampoo. Here I use the Denman brush (review coming soon).

I split my hair into about 12 workable sections. I wet my hair and apply a generous amount of Hello Hydration conditioner to make my hair slippery and super easy to detangle.

I always begin detangling the ends of my hair, then I work my way up until I've detangled the entire section of hair.

I repeat this until I've finished detangling, then I twist my hair into four large sections. In the shower I take down one section, rinse out the conditioner, run my fingers through gently to remove any other tangles, then I apply the shampoo to just that section. I focus on cleaning my scalp first, then I spread the shampoo to the rest of my hair. I rinse the section thoroughly, gently run my fingers through again, and twist the section again. I repeat the washing with the other three sections.

Here is how my "naked" hair looks - freshly shampooed and still wet with absolutely no product in it.

Using my favorite SheaMoisture conditioner, I braid my hair into about 15 sections and let my hair dry in the braids.

I hope that this helped anyone who was wondering how they should go about washing their hair! :)

More of my routine coming soon!
