1. Drink your water and stay hydrated. Most people forget that water nourishes every aspect of their body including their scalp. Be sure to up your intake in the hot summer months.

2. When heading to the beach, be sure to use a leave in conditioner that has SPF in it. This will help keep your hair color from fading and your scalp from burning, which can cause more dry flakes.

3. While at the pool, if your hair gets wet while swimming, be sure to use a clarifier right after you step out of the water. If you have color treated hair, be sure to wear a swim cap as chlorine can damage color. (Swim caps have become much more fashionable in recent years).

4. Have your professional stylist use a heat activated, deep conditioning treatment. These penetrating proteins will leave your hair much more manageable.

5. Alternate or change products with the season. Just as you go from jeans to short in the summer, your hair might need a change-up to bring it back to life!
