Hair Cleansing Cream

Claims: Before starting Jessicurl, I used to hate the one or two days a week I “had” to wash my hair. I knew it had to be done but dreaded suffering through 2 - 3 days of fluffy, puffy, dry frizzy hair that resulted from washing with traditional shampoos. By the time it calmed down and the natural scalp oils were replenished, it was almost time to do it again. Seriously, I was traumatized by shampoo.

That’s why when I was developing Hair Cleansing Cream, it was very important to me to break this horrible cycle. :-) With Hair Cleansing Cream, you can wash your hair and have it look good on the SAME day! I know, it’s hard to believe, but it’s true. Hair Cleansing Cream is a gentle, moisturizing cleanser that doesn’t create tons of lather but will clean your hair and leave it quite soft. It’s best suited for thicker, drier hair types that need more moisture, and is also safe for color treated hair.

Directions: Shake bottle, wet hair well and massage into scalp to create a light lather. Finger comb lather through length of hair and rinse well. You may not get a ton of lather the first time though but your hair will be clean. If you want more lather, repeat the cleansing process.  Don’t bunch your hair up on the top of your head as this will create tangles. After rinsing, follow with your favorite Jessicurl conditioner.

Scent: Island Fantasy - a light, sweet smell.

The product is a pinkish liquid. As the description states, it produces a very light, gentle lather. It did a great job of cleaning my hair without stripping it one bit! This is a great product for those who don't like to use shampoos with a lot of lather. This cleanser has mininal lather, yet it's just enough to clean the hair and scalp very well! 





Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner

Price: $14.95 for 8oz

Claims: Too Shea is the kind of conditioner that people write poems about. No, really, someone actually did that a few years ago. THAT is how much people love this stuff. I can’t say I blame them – I use it every day and actually have nightmares about forgetting it when I go on a trip. It has shea butter (hence the adorable name), jojoba oil, avocado oil and tons of lovely herbs and spices that are all great for hair and scalp. Together they combine to make a thick, moisturizing conditioner that isn’t too heavy and not at all greasy. It makes your curls so soft you’ll have a hard time keeping your hands out of them. (But do try – touching your curls too much is a no-no)

Directions: Apply to wet hair, comb through and rinse after 3-5 minutes. Follow with your favorite Jessicurl styling products.  Too Shea can also be left in for all day moisture on dry curls or used as a deep conditioner for finer hair that gets weighed down easily.

Water (Aqua) infused with Equisetum Maximum Lam (Horsetail), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary), Laurus Nobilis (Bay Leaf), Ocimum Basilicum (Basil), Arctium Lappa (Burdock Root), Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow Root), Origanum Vulgare (Oregano), Cymbopogon Flexuosus (Lemongrass), Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme), Salvia Officinalis (Sage) and Urtica Dioica (Nettle); Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Hydrolyzed Oat Flour, Soy Lecithin, Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate

Consistency: Medium/Creamy

Scent: Light, sweet smell. 

I used this product after washing my hair with the cleansing cream. This conditioner immediately softened my hair up, and it provided nice slip as well for finger detangling in the shower. 

I detangled my hair with ease and twisted up my hair with the conditioner the night before. The next day, I had a stunning, defined, soft, and moisturized twist-out! 





Confident Coils Styling Solution


Price: $14.95 for 8oz

Claims: Confident Coils is one of my favorite products, largely due to how it came to be. Jessicurl fans all over told me loud and clear that they loved the curl enhancement provided by Rockin’ Ringlets Styling Potion but that they needed something with more hold to go with it. So in 2004, after months and months of testing with my very eager customer testing group, Confident Coils finally hit the market. It was even named by a Jessicurl customer through our Name That Product contest. This product truly was a group effort and as a result, it works for a variety of curl types and patterns.

It’s a creamy styling product with a consistency thin enough to make it easy to distribute through even the tightest, kinkiest curls. It creates amazing definition and provides excellent humidity protection. By itself it’s not super curl enhancing, which makes it great for tighter curl patterns looking to elongate rather than enhance curls. For those with looser curls, using it with Rockin’ Ringlets will give you all the bounce, definition and frizz control you need.

Directions: Use Confident Coils with Jessicurl Rockin’ Ringlets or Gelebration Spray for extra curl enhancement or alone to give tighter curls definition and hold. Distribute evenly through soaking wet hair and scrunch to encourage curls or finger-comb to elongate. Air dry or dry with a diffuser. This stuff is pretty concentrated, so less is more. If your hair is fine and gets weighed down easily, use a very small amount at first and increase from there if you need more hold.  Check out my product demo videos in the Curly Care Center to see Confident Coils in action.

Consistency: Thin/Liquid

Scent: Light, sweet smell.

I wanted nice hold and minimal frizz when styling my hair, so I first used the Too Shea Extra Moisturizing Conditioner for moisture, then used this product on top for hold.

These two products in conjunction gave my most recent style excellent hold, shine, and moisture! Although this product is very thin, my twist-out was not only soft and moisturized, but had superior hold! My rolling twists were also smooth, shiny, and held up very well. My hair was not one bit frizzy! 

Deep Conditioning Treatment

Price: $16.95 for 8oz

Claims: It seems that every time I meet a Jessicurl customer, the most common thing they say to me is “I LOVE your Deep Conditioner!” They say it with a sincerity usually reserved for, oh, I don’t know, favorite ice cream flavors or designer shoes. I can tell how much they really mean it. And why shouldn’t they? It is INSANE how moisturizing this conditioner is. It used to be called “Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment” but then I heard from more and more curlies that they were using it every day, and some were even using it as a leave in. Who am I to limit how much you use your favorite conditioner, right? Thus, I dropped “Weekly” and just left it at Deep Conditioning Treatment. It’s thick, it’s rich, it’s moisturizing, it doesn’t build up – it really is the ideal formula for restoring moisture to dry curly hair. It also works great as a shaving cream – that even includes bald men! :)

Directions: Apply to clean, wet hair, comb through and let it settle in for 30-60 minutes. For even more intense conditioning, use with heat, such as the Hair Therapy Wrap. Rinse and style as usual. This can be used daily or as a leave-in conditioner for thicker, drier curl types.

This product is thicker than the conditioner, and it was just perfect for deep conditioning my hair right before I straightened it.

This product made my hair ultra soft and kept it super moisturized while it was straight! When I straightened my hair over a week ago, I did not experience any dryness while it was straight. I imagine that this would make a great leave-in/daily moisturizer. I'll have to update you all on how it works as such!

These products all get a 5 out of 5 from me! They worked amazingly to cleanse, condition, moisturize, and style my hair.
