You'll need several bobby pins (not included, unfortunately) in order to secure the Strawllers. Here's what I did.
The first thing I did was dampen my hair and moisturize and seal with Blended Beauty products (check out my product review here.)
I simply took a small section of hair and wrap it around the Strawller, starting from the top of the Strawller and wrapping downward. I secured the hair at the top of the Strawller with a bobby pin by sliding just one leg of the pin through the Strawller, making sure the other leg was against my scalp.
The directions on the Strawller website suggests wrapping from the bottom to the top. However, I found it easier to start wrapping from the top. The directions also state that you should sit under a hooded dryer to dry the hair. I had no access to my hooded dryer unfortunately, and I really prefer to not use heat, so I air dried it.

Now as you can see, some of the sections of hair look fuzzy around the Strawller. That is because they began to unravel a little bit. The bobby pins were not as secure as I thought .... Grrrrr!
I left the Strawllers in for a couple of hours until my hair was completely dry (or at least, until I thought it was completely dry...) Please note that you should NOT try to sleep in these. Strawllers are hard and will be very painful to sleep on, guaranteed.
After all was *seemingly* dry, I removed the Strawllers by first taking out the bobby pin, then twisting the Strawller in the opposite direction I had wrapped my hair in, and gently pulling the Strawller down until it came out. Here's how my hair looked after taking out the Strawllers.
Unfortunately, I misjudged the dryness of the hair at the crown of my head, so the roots remained puffy. However, look at the rest of those coils! Beautiful!
I separated the coils out a little for a full, coily fro!
Now, I was very pleasantly surprised after separating the coils. Although parts of my hair were puffy, I was so pleased at how my hair came out because the coils were not only beautiful, but they looked very natural, something that is hard to come by with most curl sets. And check it, it looks almost like my blog's header picture!
See that puffiness in the back? Eek!
Aside from the puffiness, I was so pleased that I actually went out and rocked my curly fro all day long! I almost never wear my hair out so it was a great feeling and I got lots of compliments!
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5
I loved how my hair came out with Strawllers, even though the results were not quite what they should have been. The curls definitely should have been more stretched with no puffiness, but since the hair started to unravel and I misjudged the dryness, I got fluffy coils instead, which weren't bad at all!
Since the site suggests using a hooded dryer, it takes a little more time and effort to get a smooth look with just air drying. I have read reviews where no heat was used and the results were still beautiful, so heat definitely isn't necessary.
I do wish that the Strawllers came with bobby pins. Fortunately, I had enough for my whole head of hair (about 50!) but not everyone does!
I will try using Strawllers a second time and see how they come out with my hair fully dried and stretched.

I think they made great curls! And you always have next to get that smooth root look you were going for. :)
Thanks Diva Locks! Yep, always next time :)
I really like this look on you. Your right it is very natural looking and the coils rock. The picture does look like your header.
Thank you Jen! I love this look too!
love the curly fro!
Thanks La Shauna!
I loved the look fluffed out.
Thank you LaNeshe! Same here!
I love the natural look on you.
do you like them as much as you do curlformers?
Thanks Tinuke! I do like Curlformers a little better because it's so easy to get a smooth look. I'll have to try using the Strawllers again though.
Cute!
