Little Natural: Skai Jackson

Monday, October 31, 2011 11 comments

Skai Jackson is a 9-year-old little natural who plays Zuri in the TV show "Jessie" on Disney Channel. I caught a glimpse of this new show as my younger sister was watching it, and the very first thing about Skai that caught my attention was her natural hair! She rocks what looks like a gorgeous twist-out!

Cleaning Your BASS Brush

Sunday, October 30, 2011 4 comments

So comes the time when your BASS brush needs to be cleaned. I use my brush to detangle my hair once a week, both before and after I wash my hair. The dirt, dust, oil, build-up, and whatever else has been in my hair are all trapped in the brush after detangling my dirty hair, and of course needs to be cleaned out before I detangle my clean hair with it. Here's how I clean my brush.

Are You Removing Your Shed Hair Effectively?

Wednesday, October 26, 2011 15 comments

Detangling natural hair is critical. Detangling keeps your hair as separated as possible from other hairs, preventing tangles and breakage. Read my post about detangling here.
and check out the detangling section of my natural hair care basics page.

Tip: Baggying

Baggying the hair is simply putting the hair under a plastic cap or bag for a long period of time, even overnight.

Curly Question: Battling Shrinkage?

Friday, October 21, 2011 5 comments

Lexus asks: How can I keep my daughter's hair from shrinking whenever I use products in it? Her hair is really long but when I put products in it, it looks short. It always draws up and looks very short like she has a baby fro.

How To Make A Faux Puff

Wednesday, October 19, 2011 21 comments

Faux puffs are amazing. Why? Because they can make your puff look bigger than it looks in a regular ponypuff, and they do not put stress on your edges like a regular ponypuff can. They are great for naturals with hair that isn't long enough to pull back into a regular puff.

Be On Precious Curls!

Thursday, October 13, 2011 1 comment

As much as I love to blog, I simply don't want to do it all alone. There are some days that I just don't have a thing to post about! Plus, I'm sure it gets boring just hearing stuff from me, me, me.

That being said, I would love to hear from all of you - my followers! I accept all kinds of guest posts, from hairstyles to homemade mixes to natural hair art and poetry. I want to see a style you came up with and how you accomplished it. I want to see your yummy mixes. I want to hear about your experiences with natural hair. And so do the rest of us! I also do two types of features - one for those who do their own hair, called "Featured Natural," and one for children, called "Little Natural." I just love featuring others! I have learned so much from other naturals, and I am still learning! I get so inspired by seeing what other naturals do. Please share your experiences and your talents with me and with the rest of us! You are an inspiration, believe it or not!

Visit my feature page here. Looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Precious Curls On Tumblr!

Monday, October 10, 2011 2 comments

Last night I finished creating a Tumblr!

Whenever I see someone with a beautiful head of precious curls, I just get so inspired! This Tumblr is going to be an endless list of natural hair pictures, for my own inspiration, and hopefully, for yours too! It will include everything from updo's to twist-outs to mohawks to locs to just plain old out hair.

Some of my pictures will go up there too. I rarely take pictures of my hair unless it's for a post. I know, sad! Also, if I find an inspirational style, I'll add it to my Tumblr and maybe try to achieve that style too!

If any of you are on Tumblr, feel free to follow me! Visit my Tumblr here. To view all the pictures together as shown in the picture above, click here.

The Basics Of Natural Hair Care

Friday, October 7, 2011 5 comments

I have come up with a page about the basics of natural hair care. This is really for the beginners who have just started reading my blog and just don't know where to start with their hair. I know that coming to a natural hair blog as a beginner can be very overwhelming, because there is such a wealth of information available about natural hair care. Even for those of you who are not beginners with natural hair, I hope that this page will be helpful. It took me almost a year to know the basics of how to care for my natural hair. I wish that I could have found all of the information on a page like the one I made! This page is a summary of all that I have learned about natural hair ever since I started transitioning. It is very basic and I don't go into too much detail about every single aspect of hair. If you would like to see some more detailed information, you can visit my hair facts posts or my tips.

Check out my basics page here.

If you found this page helpful, please share it with the buttons below!
