All hair is made of keratin. It is the manner in which the keratin leaves the scalp that determines the hair's shape or pattern. The shape of the actual hair also determines how it will act once it has emerged from the scalp.

- Shea butter is a slightly yellowish or ivory-colored natural fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree by crushing, boiling and stirring. Shea butter is solid at room temperature although it quickly liquefies right around body temperature.
