Product Review: Darcy's Botanicals Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

Product Line: Darcy's Botanicals

Price: $12.00 for 8oz

Claims: Our Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme is an all natural hair butter for moisturizing, styling and conditioning your natural coils. It absorbs instantly into hair to replenish much needed moisture, provides softness, sheen & promotes healthy hair growth. This highly moisturizing butter is very thick & concentrated so a little goes a long way. It is perfect for type 3-4 naturals:) It has a very thick concentrated butter-like consistency with the sweet smell of gently African Madagascar Vanilla! Once you try it, you'll be hooked!

Ingredients:
Elaeis Guineensis (Organic Palm) Oil, Organic Aloe Vera Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Organic Madagascar Vanilla Extract, Emulsifying Wax NF, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice Bran) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax and Potassium Sorbate.

Consistency: Medium/Thick Creamy

Scent: Very light, sweet scent. Reminds me of vanilla cake.

This product looks spongy before you actually scoop it, but it is creamy. It felt very smooth as I was rubbing it between my palms and was very easy to apply onto my twists. I first wet my hair with my moisturizing spritz. Then I applied the product. You should use this product after spritzing your hair with water or using a water-based moisturizer because this product is not water based.

My twists were nicely coiled and were nice and shiny all day. I can go about two days before I need to reapply this product.

My twists with the Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme:

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5

My mini twists love this creme! Just look at those coils! I will have to try it again on my loose hair.

this is really interesting because they definitely changed the consistency. Mine is very runny and I got it a while back

That is strange Chelsea. I noticed while looking at the description of the product on their page a note that said they have started using a high-speed mixer that makes the consistency more creamy. Looks like I got a creamy batch :)

I got this for my Beebs and it's hard...not soft at all...should it be warmed a little? i mean i rub it between my fingers to melt it a lil lol

Precious @ Precious-Curls.com said...

Amanda, go ahead and try warming it up. If it melts in your hands easily then that's fine too. Do what you need to do so that you can use the product! :)
